Whaley Bridge Uniting Church
Buxton Road, Whaley Bridge, SK23 7HT
(Find us on the main road through Whaley Bridge)
Our vision is ‘To know Jesus Christ and make him known’
Our Christian mission is ‘to worship, to pray, to learn and to share the love of God within our community’
We are a Local Ecumenical Partnership (LEP) and have Methodists, Baptists, United Reformed, and Independents in our Congregation – and some who are none of these!
’Uniting’ is a key word, chosen to represent the ongoing growth of shared Christian faith and outreach into the community.
Service time: 10.30 am
We vary our service pattern over each month:
Our three-part service (every Sunday except the last in each month)
WBUC seeks to offer a service involving Worship, Fellowship time and Age-appropriate teaching and learning.
The first half hour or so involves everyone joining in worship and prayer, with Scripture reading, and perhaps a word or activity with children who are there.
We then go into our Fellowship area to enjoy tea, coffee, juice and chat (or just stay and be quiet if preferred!), for 20 minutes or so.
Children will then stay out and join in Junior Church with our special team, while adults go back into the Church to hear a sermon or address, readings and join in prayers for the world and its people. Every 3-4 weeks we join in a service of Holy Communion .
Our one-part service (last Sunday in the month)
This is usually an ‘All-together service’ when all ages join in worship, with our Fellowship time of drinks and chat in the foyer afterwards.
Parking is available on the Church forecourt, or in the car park behind the Church (reached via the forecourt).
Our building is used by a wide range of community groups and rooms are available to hire. Enquiries to email@example.com
We are under the pastoral care of the Rev Keith Sandow.
Our weekly notice sheet when set up will be available by a click here
Our quarterly magazine is “Growing Together”. Pick up a free copy at WBUC or at Fernilee Methodist Church.
The church shop known as “Over the Road” is open 4 days per week . It extends the outreach work of the church , offering a listening ear as well as selling and recycling clothes and other goods. More details will be found on their webpage under the “Activities” section on the menu.
