Hollinsclough Methodist Chapel & Hall

Hollinsclough Methodist ChurchHollinsclough is a small village in the north of the Staffordshire Moorlands, close to the border with Derbyshire. We are the only church in the village.

The Chapel was built in 1801 by John Lomas. A shippon was purchased by a member and converted into a hall in 1992 and this has made a big difference to our activities. We can let the Hall out to any groups or chapels that wish to use it .

Although we are small in numbers we have quite a few activities during the year:

At Easter we have a Good Friday Service which is followed by a sit-down tea in the Hall, and then on Easter Sunday, which is also the Chapel Anniversary, Hollinsclough Silver Band always play for the hymn singing.

During the summer months (May until the end of August) we open the Hall for refreshments on a Sunday. We get a lot of regulars visiting and also people who like to come into the lovely area walking.

In October the “Edinburgh Trials” come through the village and use the Hall as a refreshment stop. There are usually about 150 motor bikers and car drivers.

The second Sunday in October is always our Harvest Festival and again we have a sit-down tea afterwards.

In November we have a Meat and Potato Pie Supper with a film show or some sort of entertainment prior to the supper. This is very popular; one year people even had to sit in the Chapel to eat their supper. The profits from this go to Methodist Homes.

In December we have Carols by Candlelight with Hollinsclough Silver Band and on Christmas Eve we have an evening service (weather permitting).

We work with the local school our minister takes assemblies and they use our chapel for services.

We now share our Sunday services most weeks with Earl Sterndale, alternating between the two chapels.

If you come to our Chapel for an event or to worship you will be most welcome.

We are under the pastoral care of the Rev Andrew Parker.
